Asad is an Arabic word that means "Lion", and "Al Atlas" is a mountain chain in north Africa, therefore Asad Al Atlas means the "Lion of the Atlas mountains". The name does not connote any form of prejudice (of race, belief or politics).

Just like Taekwon-do, karate, judo etc are names of different martial arts whose origin are from Asian countries, Asad Al Atlas is coined to indicate the difference in this art of self defense from those just mentioned and others, the language used reflects the initiator's descent.

Asad Al Atlas is a combination of martial arts borne out of the initiator's experience of over two decades; it is like a
cocktail of different self defense techniques that has its own unique style and movements.

The philosophy of Asad Al Atlas is love and peace, which is symbolized by the red color of its uniform and the inscription of green. The red color is borrowed from the beautiful red rose flower as a symbol of love and the green color as a sign of peace.

Love and peace are again incorporated into the arts of Asad Al Atlas in the form of greeting by placing the right hand on the heart before and after a training session.

Thus the philosophy of love and peace is integrated into the arts of defending oneself.

We therefore welcome ALL to the Asad Al Atlas - the martial art of the new millennium.

Though the movements and style may have similarities with other form of martial arts, a professional martial Artist watching a training session of Asad Al Atlas as a bystander will immediately recognize their originality and uniqueness.
